FRANK & EILEEN: You run an incredible lifestyle emporium, The Marston House, with your husband and live between two of our favorite places, Maine and France. What led you down this path?
SHARON: My husband, Paul, is an architect, and we fell in love while working on a project together. I have always loved beautifully handmade and recycled clothing and furnishings. I find so much joy in knowing nothing is synthetic and everything has the signature of its maker. The two of us first went to France together in 1983 to visit a friend in Paris before driving down to the south. From that moment, we always knew we would be back, and now we split our time between Maine and the South of France.

F&E: Does your work influence your clothing choices? What are your favorite go-to pieces?
SHARON: Comfort is the most important thing to me, and natural fabrics are essential. I love the fit and durability of traditional menswear, and items like F&E’s Cork in Everyday Denim are an absolute necessity.

F&E: Is there a method for your curation for The Marston House? How has your taste evolved over the years?
SHARON: I don’t believe there is a method for my curation. I trust my heart completely and never question it. If I’m not in love with something, I don’t buy it, and I’ve always been intuitive to my own particular needs. I have, of course, made mistakes along the way, but this is always where we learn our biggest lessons. Loving and learning are essentials in life.
