To collaborate with the one and only Julianne Moore on our first House of Frank & Eileen capsule launch is a dream come true. We sat down for ‘a cuppa’ with the iconic actor and author to chat about her favorite pieces, personal style, and the importance of female friendships.

Frank & Eileen
Frank & Eileen: Julianne, we’re so excited to collaborate with you on House of Frank & Eileen’s first capsule collection! Let’s get right into it, starting with how you define your personal style?

Julianne Moore: I would say my personal style is modern, easy, and fairly monochromatic! Because I am in costume so often and dress up fairly regularly on the red carpet, in real life, I crave simplicity.

F&E: House of Frank & Eileen, our just-launched community design house, is a new initiative. As the first guest welcomed into our design home, how would you describe the collaboration?

JM: It was a joy to collaborate with everyone at Frank & Eileen. Audrey was so welcoming! I found that we had so much in common—we are devoted to our families and love our work. I think Audrey and I both value authenticity.

F&E: Initially, what drew you to Frank & Eileen as a brand?

JM: I was a fan of Frank & Eileen long before they approached me about a collaboration. I have several Frank & Eileen button-ups because I love the feeling of their fabrics.

F&E: Does living in New York City influence the way you dress?

JM: Yes, very much so. In order to move around New York City quickly, you need to be on foot or take the subway, both of which I do daily. I don’t want my wardrobe to restrict my movement, but I want to look chic and appropriate.

F&E: Do you find yourself reaching for certain pieces over and over?

JM: Like many women, I gravitate toward the same items. I love a wide pant and a jacket.

F&E: The Waverly button-up is a style that’s both timeless and always on trend. Do you gravitate towards pieces that have that eternal quality?

JM: I hope so. When I look back at what I have worn, it is always the classic pieces that stand out.

F&E: We’re big believers in finding the joy in everyday moments. When you have a precious moment of downtime, where do you love to go in New York, or what do you love to do?

JM: I love being able to walk around NYC, go to my yoga class, and meet friends for lunch. I love MoMA, The Met, the parks, and being able to go to a show at the drop of a hat.

F&E: At F&E, we create styles that feel truly generationless. Do you and your daughter ever share unique pieces or connect over fashion?

JM: We really do—my daughter suddenly realized I have a great closet, and she is always in there!

F&E: Between acting in culture-defining films, authoring children’s books, and so much more, you’ve had an extraordinary career; what brings you the most happiness in your work?

JM: I love the creative process—working with so many people toward the same goal. A film is a construct with so many authors; that is the best part about it.

F&E: A belief that women are changing the world sits at the core of everything we do at Frank & Eileen. Do you have any rituals that make you feel especially empowered?

JM: I feel grateful that I have been able to have a family and a creative life. That brings me so much joy and a real sense of accomplishment.

F&E: Fostering friendship, love, and loyalty amongst our F&E community is so important to us; how meaningful has female friendship been in your life?

JM: The older I get, the more I lean on my friends. I love the way women grow together and show up for one another.
