FRANK & EILEEN: You’re quite the multi-hyphenate—a creative director, designer, consultant, and author passionate about small space living! What inspired you to embrace and design for this specific kind of lifestyle?

WHITNEY: I’m interested in so many creative fields — from photography and editing, to writing, to designing — that I wanted a profession that allowed me to explore all those interests daily. When I couldn’t find the perfect job, I created one that focuses on the subject that I find the most satisfying: small space living.

F&E: Does your less-is-more interiors aesthetic inform your personal style? If so, how? What are your favorite go-to pieces?

WHITNEY: My design aesthetic absolutely influences everything else about my style, including wardrobe. My favorite piece is the Rory, as it is a brilliant multitasker (an essential for a pared-down lifestyle). For me, it’s a dress, a robe, a coverup, a lightweight jacket, and loungewear. A true chameleon!

F&E: Do you have any words of wisdom for women looking to follow a more creative, unexplored path in their line of work, as you did?

WHITNEY: Like so many folks, I started this line of work as a side-gig, which I tackled in tandem with my full-time job. It made for an especially exhausting few years, but it was worth it in order to achieve a professional goal that is also personally fulfilling.
